Student Spotlight: Alvin Ibeabuchi

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (July 8, 2026) – I would like to thank God, Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU), and the Career Services Department for all the help I received throughout my undergraduate journey. Early in my time at Prairie View, I was told how valuable Career Services could be for professional development and the job search process. I finally took that advice when I was readmitted to PVAMU to complete my final semester in Mechanical Engineering and continue into my post-baccalaureate studies in Biology.

The department proved to be an incredible blessing in my life. During the readmission process, I visited the Career Services office in Evans Hall, hoping to speak with anyone who could provide some basic information. Instead, I was connected with Mr. Evans Cooper, who took me under his wing and guided me in every aspect of professional development, both within the department and beyond.

The atmosphere in the department is welcoming, encouraging, and genuinely supportive. I had the opportunity to network with several staff members, including Ms. Luc, Ms. Lott, Ms. George, Mr. Rudy, and many others, especially Ms. Michelle Jones. Ms. Michelle was always welcoming, informative, and supportive. She consistently went above and beyond to provide guidance and encouragement every step of the way. She played a pivotal role in my professional development, and I cannot thank her enough.

Mr. Cooper took it upon himself not only to help me with my professional development and job search but also to encourage my personal growth and help me become a better person. Although I was not a Computer Science major, Mr. Cooper always made time to answer my questions and assist me in every way possible to ensure my success as both a student and a future professional.

He kept me informed about everything the department had to offer, including career workshops, complimentary trips to job fairs and major conferences (such as the Texas Job Fair and AfroTech Conference 2025 in Houston), and invaluable career advice throughout the process. His coaching played a significant role in helping me graduate, secure a job offer, and grow into a better man for my family, my future family, and my community.

Through Career Services and the coaching I received from Mr. Evans Cooper, I had the opportunity to be thoroughly prepared to meet my future employer during the complimentary trip to St. Thomas University for the Texas Job Fair. There, I connected with Siemens Energy. Thanks to the preparation, coaching, and resources provided by Career Services, I was able to stand out and make a lasting impression with the company. The skills I gained helped me navigate and succeed throughout the extensive hiring process.

I was ultimately blessed to secure an outstanding engineering position with Siemens Energy—a company that offers tremendous opportunities for growth in a rapidly expanding and stable industry. As I begin this exciting new chapter in my career, I have many aspirations for the future and remain hopeful and grateful for the journey God has placed before me.

All glory belongs to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I thank Him for using Prairie View A&M University and the outstanding Career Services Department to help shape me into the man and professional I am becoming. God bless PVAMU and everyone associated with Career Services. It is truly a place where people are equipped, encouraged, and empowered to achieve greatness.
