Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Rural Real Estate Intern who wants to learn the rural land business and build a foundation for a future career in real estate.
This is an unlicensed internship position designed for individuals who are interested in farms, ranches, recreational properties, hunting land, rural homes, rural estates and acreage throughout Texas and Oklahoma.
The intern will work alongside experienced real estate professionals and gain hands-on exposure to the rural real estate business, including property marketing, research, mapping, photography, customer service, transaction coordination, and prospecting.
This position does not require a real estate license. The intern will work under the direction and supervision of licensed real estate professionals and will not perform activities that require a real estate license.
Primary Responsibilities
Property Marketing & Research
- Assist with gathering information about rural properties.
- Research property locations, acreage, property history, county information, schools, roads, water features, and surrounding amenities.
- Assist with preparing property marketing materials.
- Help organize property photographs, videos, maps, aerial imagery, and other marketing assets.
- Assist with social media and digital marketing campaigns.
- Help maintain property information on websites and marketing platforms.
- Learn how rural properties are evaluated and marketed to prospective buyers.
Field & Property Support
- Accompany licensed agents on property visits and tours when appropriate.
- Assist with property photography and video.
- Help identify and document property features such as ponds, creeks, fences, barns, roads, timber, pastures, improvements, and recreational features.
- Assist with preparing properties for marketing and showings.
- Develop familiarity with rural roads, counties, communities, and recreational areas.
Buyer & Seller Support
- Assist licensed agents with preparing information for buyer and seller meetings.
- Research properties based on information provided by licensed agents.
- Help maintain CRM records and contact information.
- Provide administrative support throughout the transaction process.
Prospecting & Business Development
The intern will learn how successful rural real estate agents develop their businesses by:
- Researching potential landowners and properties.
- Assisting with marketing campaigns.
- Learning prospecting techniques.
- Helping maintain a database of prospective clients.
- Learning how to identify potential rural real estate opportunities.
- Assisting with email and social media marketing.
- Learning how to develop relationships with landowners, buyers, ranchers, farmers, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts.
Training & Career Development
This position is intended to provide a hands-on introduction to rural real estate.
Training may include:
- Fundamentals of rural real estate
- Rural property types and terminology
- Property research
- Rural property marketing
- Mapping and GIS tools
- Aerial imagery and drone photography concepts
- CRM and lead management
- Social media marketing

- The process of obtaining a Texas or Oklahoma real estate license
The goal is to give the intern a realistic understanding of the rural real estate business and, for those who choose to pursue it, a strong foundation for becoming a licensed rural real estate professional.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate:
- Has a strong interest in rural real estate and the outdoors.
- Has an interest in land, ranches, farms, hunting, fishing, wildlife, agriculture, or rural lifestyles.
- Is dependable, organized, and willing to learn.
- Has good communication skills.
- Is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Has basic computer and social media skills.
- Is willing to learn real estate technology and mapping systems.
- Has reliable transportation.
- Is comfortable traveling to rural properties.
- Maintains a professional appearance and attitude.
No real estate license or prior real estate experience is required.

Rural real estate requires people who are comfortable getting out of the office, driving back roads, walking properties, talking with landowners, learning about land, and developing a genuine understanding of the rural lifestyle.

Someone who is currently in college, recently graduated, considering a career change, or interested in eventually becoming a licensed rural real estate agent may be an excellent fit.
