Careers in Action: Explore Careers Beyond the Classroom

At Prairie View A&M University, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Through the Careers in Action Program, students have the opportunity to engage with professionals, visit workplaces, and gain firsthand exposure to industries related to their academic and career interests.

The program supports the university’s mission of preparing students to become self-sufficient professionals by connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences.

What Is Careers in Action?

The Careers in Action Program is an experiential learning initiative coordinated by the Center for Careers & Professional Development. Each semester, students are invited to participate in off-campus career exploration trips designed to provide valuable insight into professional environments and career pathways.

These visits allow students to observe workplace operations, interact with industry professionals, and gain a better understanding of how classroom concepts are applied in the workforce.

Students may be required to meet certain criteria before being selected to attend, including:

• Demonstrating professional behavior
• Maintaining appropriate communication with Career Services
• Following event instructions and deadlines
• Adhering to business or business-casual dress expectations
• Representing the university positively while visiting employer sites
